Trader Joe’s is preparing to expand its US store network with 30 new grocery stores across 16 states, with two locations scheduled to open this week. The expansion will bring new stores to states including California, Illinois, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington.
Trader Joe’s Expansion Covers 16 States
The grocery chain has identified 30 locations as part of its latest expansion programme. California and Illinois will receive the largest number of new stores, with four locations planned in each state.
Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon and Utah will each receive one new Trader Joe’s, reports The Sun. The remaining states in the expansion include Arizona, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas and Washington.
Two Trader Joe’s Stores Are Opening This Week
Two locations have confirmed opening dates. The new Anaheim Hills, California, store is scheduled to open on Thursday, October 22. A second location in West Jordan, Utah, is due to open on Friday, October 23.
Trader Joe’s has not yet announced opening dates for the other 28 stores. The company regularly updates its website as new opening dates are confirmed.

California And Illinois Lead The Expansion
California and Illinois are set to receive four new Trader Joe’s stores each, making them the states with the largest expansion in the latest wave. The new locations add to Trader Joe’s existing network in both states, where the supermarket has established a large customer base.
Other states will see smaller additions, with several receiving one new location.
Trader Joe’s Is Moving Into Former Retail Spaces
The expansion also includes locations that previously housed other retailers. One new Trader Joe’s store has opened at The Crossing at Walkers Brook shopping center in Reading, Massachusetts, in a space formerly occupied by Staples.
The shopping centre also houses The Home Depot, Golf Galaxy, Bank of America, Chipotle and Starbucks. The use of former retail spaces gives the grocery chain additional locations in established shopping areas.
Most Opening Dates Have Yet To Be Announced
Although the chain has confirmed the number of planned stores, customers in most of the affected areas are still waiting for specific opening dates. Trader Joe’s has confirmed dates for only two of the 30 locations so far.
The company publishes new information through its official announcements page as construction and preparations progress. Customers looking for the latest information can check the retailer’s store announcements for updates on individual locations.
Trader Joe’s Continues Its Store Network Expansion
The latest plans represent another expansion of the Trader Joe’s grocery network across the US. With 30 stores planned in 16 states, customers in several regions will gain a new local location over the coming months.
For now, shoppers in Anaheim Hills and West Jordan are the first to have confirmed opening dates, while the remaining communities will have to wait for Trader Joe’s to announce when their new stores will open.
