Americans affected by a DaVita data breach could be eligible for compensation of up to $2,500 under a proposed $15 million class action settlement. The healthcare company agreed to the settlement following a ransomware attack in April 2025 that allegedly exposed patients’ personal information. Eligible class members must submit a claim by January 19, 2027.

DaVita Data Breach Exposed Personal Information

The ransomware attack reportedly resulted in personal information belonging to some DaVita patients being exposed. According to Epiq Class Action & Claims Solutions, the information involved varied between individuals and could have included names, addresses, dates of birth and Social Security numbers.

Some records also contained health insurance-related information and other identifiers connected to DaVita. For a limited number of people, the exposed information allegedly included tax identification numbers and images of checks written to DaVita.

Eligible Claimants Could Receive Up To $2,500

The proposed settlement establishes a $15 million fund for eligible class members. People who can document losses connected to the data breach could qualify for a payment of up to $2,500, subject to the settlement terms and the number of valid claims.

The maximum amount is not an automatic payment for every person affected. The final amount each claimant receives will depend on the applicable eligibility requirements and the claims process.

Three Years Of Credit Monitoring Could Be Available

The settlement also provides for three years of credit monitoring for people covered by the agreement. Credit monitoring can alert individuals to certain changes or activity associated with their credit information.

People who believe they are eligible should review the official settlement information to determine which benefits they can claim.

DaVita Denies Wrongdoing

DaVita has denied wrongdoing in connection with the incident. The company nevertheless agreed to the proposed $15 million settlement to resolve the class action litigation.

Agreeing to a settlement does not constitute an admission of liability by DaVita.

January 19 Is The Claim Deadline

People who believe they qualify must submit their claim by January 19, 2027. The settlement administrator has also set a separate deadline for people who do not want to be legally bound by the agreement.

Requests to exclude yourself from the settlement must be postmarked by December 21, 2026. Anyone considering a claim should check the official settlement website for the applicable forms, deadlines and eligibility requirements.

Court Will Decide The Settlement

A final approval hearing is scheduled for February 18, 2027. At the hearing, the court will consider whether to approve the settlement and will address the terms governing payments to eligible claimants.

The amount ultimately received by individual class members may therefore differ from the advertised maximum of $2,500.

Who Could Be Eligible?

Eligibility is linked to people whose personal information was involved in the April 2025 DaVita ransomware incident. The information exposed varied from person to person, so affected individuals should check whether they received a notification from DaVita or otherwise fall within the settlement class.

Eligible claimants may seek compensation for qualifying losses and could also receive credit monitoring under the settlement. With the claim deadline set for January 19, 2027, potential class members should review the official settlement terms before submitting a claim.
