A New York food manufacturer has recalled dozens of cream cheese spreads, deli salads and prepared foods after environmental testing detected Listeria monocytogenes at its production facility.
Made Fresh Salads Pulls Cream Cheese Products From Distribution
Made Fresh Salads Inc., based in Bay Shore, New York, has recalled its ready-to-eat cream cheese products following positive environmental samples collected during testing by the company and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recall, announced on September 6, 2026, covers about 25 cream cheese and spread products sold under the Made Fresh Salads and Northside brands.
According to The Sun, affected varieties include strawberry, scallion, blueberry, garlic and herb, lox, apple cinnamon, bacon scallion, chocolate chip, jalapeño, jalapeño cheddar, olive pimento, vegetable and whipped cream cheese. Tofu spreads are also included.

Most of the cream cheese was distributed in five-pound tubs, while scallion and whipped cream cheese were also supplied in 30-pound containers.
Consumers may not necessarily find those brand names on the packages in their refrigerators. Retailers could have repackaged the bulk products into deli containers or other retail packaging, meaning the labels and product codes seen by customers can vary depending on where an item was purchased.
Listeria Was Detected Inside the Production Facility
The recall followed environmental sampling by the FDA and Made Fresh Salads that found some areas of the company’s production facility positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
The company has stopped production and distribution of the affected foods while it works with the FDA to investigate the source of the contamination.
As of the recall announcement, no illnesses associated with the affected products had been reported.
The positive samples were found in the production environment, prompting the recall while investigators work to determine what caused the contamination.

Why Listeria Poses a Serious Health Risk
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, with young children, older or frail adults and people with weakened immune systems facing greater risks.
Healthy people can develop short-term symptoms including high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Pregnancy presents a particular concern. Listeria infection can cause miscarriage and stillbirth, according to the FDA.
More Than Cream Cheese Is Being Recalled
The action extends well beyond spreads. More than 40 deli salads and other prepared foods have also been pulled, widening the range of products consumers may need to check.
The recalled foods include potato salad, macaroni salad, coleslaw, shrimp salad, egg salad, quinoa salad, pasta dishes and several tuna products.
Chocolate and vanilla puddings, potato croquettes and crabcakes are also covered by the recall.
The salads were distributed through direct deliveries to retailers and distributors across Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and New York City. They were supplied in five-pound and 30-pound white plastic tubs bearing Made Fresh Salads or Northside labels, as well as in half-size aluminum pans.
Affected salad products carry expiration dates ranging from September 3 through September 18, 2026, with the date printed on the bottom-left portion of the label.
Consumers who purchased recalled Made Fresh Salads products have been instructed to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
