In an urgent safety warning, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of approximately 11,000 LShome photoelectric smoke detector fire alarms, sold exclusively on Amazon between February 2024 and December 2025. The recall follows concerns that the affected devices might not sound promptly in the event of a fire, creating a significant risk to life and property. The CPSC’s alert has prompted immediate action from affected consumers, urging them to stop using the devices and request refunds.
Reason for the Recall
The issue lies in the smoke detectors’ ability to detect fires. According to the CPSC, the alarm units may fail to sound in a timely manner during a fire, potentially delaying the alert necessary to escape or mitigate harm. The problem stems from a flaw in the smoke detectors’ sensitivity settings, which may be too high to trigger an alarm when smoke levels reach a dangerous threshold. This poses a significant hazard, as the devices might not function as intended in life-threatening emergencies.
While no injuries or incidents have been reported so far, the CPSC emphasized the severity of the potential risk. “If the sensing threshold of security warnings is set too high, the alarm might not sound in a timely manner,” the commission stated in its recall notice. This failure could be deadly, particularly in situations where quick action is required. The CPSC is urging anyone who owns these devices to immediately stop using them and take steps to return the product.
Details of the Affected Products
The recalled alarms are white, circular devices powered by a 9V battery and sold in a three-pack under the LShome brand. They feature a light sound warning and a test button. The specific models affected include the XG-7D04-KZ9Z and SKU number CX-50YP-A5VN, both printed on the bottom of the alarms. These alarms were sold at a price of around $30 on Amazon, with an estimated 11,000 units sold across the United States.
Consumers can easily identify the affected alarms by locating the model and SKU numbers printed on the device. The recall covers units sold exclusively through Amazon.com between February 2024 and December 2025. According to the CPSC, those who purchased these smoke detectors should contact the seller for a full refund. The seller can be reached via email at [email protected] for further instructions.
How to Return the Alarms
If you own one of the recalled LShome smoke detectors, the first step is to cease using the product immediately. The CPSC has stated that the alarms should not be used in any capacity until a refund has been processed. To obtain a refund, consumers should contact the seller directly. The email provided by the CPSC, [email protected], is the designated point of contact for all refund inquiries.
The agency also advises consumers to discard the faulty alarms, which can be safely disposed of in the household trash. As part of the recall process, the CPSC and Amazon are working to ensure that customers are informed and compensated swiftly.
